Highland Adapts was founded by nine organisations with a shared desire for a climate-ready Highland. Since then an additional 15 organisations and groups have joined the work that we do. Now it's your turn.
Highland Adapts
The Highland Adapts partnership was set up in 2021 and brings communities, businesses, land managers and public sector together to facilitate transformational action towards a prosperous, climate ready Highland. The Highland Adapts partnership is jointly responsible for collecting and processing the data received through this consultation.
NatureScot, formerly Scottish Natural Heritage, is Scotland’s nature agency. They work to improve our natural environment in Scotland and inspire everyone to care more about it. Working towards Scotland’s ‘green recovery’ from Covid-19, NatureScot want to stimulate a revival that secures resilience through a nature-rich future for Scotland and an effective response to the climate emergency.
HIE is the economic and community development agency for the north and west of Scotland. They help build a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable economy across the Highlands and Islands, attracting more people to live, work, study, invest, and visit. Their vision and priorities aim to harness our region's potential, working closely with local, regional and national partners.
The Highlands & Islands Climate Hub is funded by the Scottish Government and has the purpose of supporting community-led climate action across the region. The Hub is one of the first in a network of community climate action hubs being formed across Scotland to support communities to make a just transition towards net zero and support a climate ready Scotland.
The Highland Council is Highland's local authority which provides services to the people of the Highlands, such as education, care, cultural services, and planning.
Zero Waste Scotland is a publicly-funded organisation that leads Scotland to use products and resources responsibly, focusing on where we can have the greatest impact on climate change. Using evidence and insight, their goal is to inform policy, and motivate individuals and businesses to embrace the environmental, economic, and social benefits of a circular economy.
Forestry and Land Scotland is the Scottish Government agency responsible for managing our national forests and land. They manage timber production, develop renewable energy schemes, create and maintain trails and visitor facilities and conserve habitats, wildlife and archaeological treasures.
NHS Highland is one of the fourteen regions of NHS Scotland. They provide physical and mental health services across the Highland and Argyll & Bute council areas. They deliver services at hospitals, clinics, community facilities and in people’s homes - either in-person or online.
Changeworks is Scotland's leading energy efficiency organisation, with over 35 years' experience in delivering impactful low carbon living solutions. They work with Scottish Government agencies, local authorities, housing associations, businesses, schools, community groups and individuals to improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel poverty, prevent waste, and inspire low carbon behaviours.
Scotland’s climate is changing with widespread impacts for people, nature and business. The Adaptation Scotland programme provides advice and support to help organisations, businesses and communities prepare for, and build resilience to these impacts. Adaptation Scotland is a programme funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by the sustainability charity Sniffer.
Commonplace connects you to the people who create the places where you live, work and play. A platform to speak and be heard by developers, councils, and public bodies to initiate better decisions and places for all.
